Let’s talk about racism - “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.”
Although some people like to think that racism is a thing of the past, it’s clear that it’s still all around us and is found in incidents like of Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and George Floyd. Sometimes disguised, sometimes just in plain sight.
Unfortunately, racism is not new to the black community. They’ve endured slavery, segregation, and are still fighting for systemic change so that they are not born at a disadvantage because of the color of their skin. We all need to do our part to invoke change for the betterment of the black community.
Why is there debate over this? Why is this so controversial?
Racism is in direct conflict with the reason we started bettrkind. It’s in conflict with our mission to create a world where no child goes unloved.
With every action we take, we commit to drive that mission further. Right now, supporting the Black Lives Matter movement and fighting for systemic change is the action that is most needed.
That is why we have made the decision to donate 50% of our profits from pre-sale (6/15 to 6/30) to the BLM movement. We also don’t want to stop with donating. We want to spread awareness, sign petitions, support black business owners, and more; because that is what it takes to drive change.
To the black community that has tolerated and is still enduring so much pain & suffering:
- We commit to support you.
- We commit to hear you.
- We commit to see you.
- We commit to action.
